Where to go for THCV? The journey through the cannabis jungle continues!

Where did THCV come from?

One of the most interesting plants in the jungle is cannabis. What other plant can you use in healthcare, construction, industry, food, even skin care? It's no wonder that many an explorer has not been able to sleep with the mystery of this powerful herb and is trying to find out more. As a result, we now know that cannabis contains over 150 different cannabinoids, terpenes and other compounds.

One of the rare cannabinoids is THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin). If this abbreviation reminds you of any other substance you have come across on your travels, you are right. THCV has a similar molecular structure to the popular THC, but unlike this cannabinoid, THCV is not psychoactive in small doses. In terms of chemical structure, THCV has a side chain two carbons shorter than THC, and as a result has different properties and effects.

Origin and varieties rich in THCV

THCV is produced as a by-product of cannabigerovarinic acid (CBGVA). An enzyme converts this acid into THCVA (tetrahydrocannabivaric acid), which is further converted into THCV by heat greater than that of the tropical rainforest. The process is known as decarboxylation

And which jungle cannabis has the highest THCV content? It's the native African strains of Cannabis sativa

Look for these varieties in particular:

  • Doug's Varin
  • Pineapple Purps
  • Durban Poison
  • Jack The Ripper
  • Power Plant

But beware, some of these strains are also high in THC. You will know that in the Czech Republic, under current legislation, cannabis can be grown up to a maximum limit of 1% THC.

Nowadays, however, you don't have to be an experienced explorer or gardener, you can easily find legal products with sufficient THCV (and zero THC) in selected e-shops.

How does THCV work?

Clearer mind, relaxing effects, changes in the perception of music and colours. Discovering THCV can provide an experience similar to exploring an exotic jungle. But that's not all this cannabinoid can do.

Studies suggest the potential benefits of THCV for these difficulties as well:

  • inflammatory processes
  • obesity
  • diabetes
  • stress, anxiety
  • panic attacks
  • osteoporosis
  • control of symptoms of Parkinson's disease

Like other cannabinoids, THCV affects the endocannabinoid system via the CB1 and CB2 endocannabinoid receptors.

What about side effects? While not much is known about these, available sources suggest that some of the side effects attributed to other cannabinoids with similar chemical structures, such as dry mouth, red eyes, impaired short-term memory or increased heart rate, may occur

While we are amazed by the colourful parrots, we may not be so pleased to meet a tiger or a crocodile. As in the jungle, vigilance and caution are in order when exploring cannabinoids.

Does THCV help you lose weight?

Who in the tropics can resist all those sweet exotic fruits like bananas, papaya and watermelon? If you, too, are struggling with overeating and extra pounds, you'll probably be interested to know that early research suggests that THCV may reduce appetite and increase satiety.

Studies show that THCV works similarly to anti-obesity drugs, without the accompanying psychiatric problems that some of these drugs cause. Clinical tests conducted in obese mouse models have shown that THCV restores insulin sensitivity.

Back in 2013, a study published in the scientific journal Nutrition & Diabetes reported that THCV also has a positive effect on lowering blood glucose and liver triglycerides. The cannabinoids THCV and CBD also appear to be well tolerated by patients with type 2 diabetes.

But by no means should THCV be considered a panacea that will solve all your weight and overeating problems like a wave of a liana. It is important that further research on this cannabinoid confirms the positive effects and refutes the undesirable ones. However, it already seems that we are on the right track and that THCV could be the breakthrough in the development of drugs that help with weight loss, obesity and diabetes. Before this happens, don't get involved in any experiments if you have health problems, and always consult your doctors about your condition.

Let off steam with THCV

Quality and safe equipment is a must for any expedition. THCV vaporizer cartridges can make your relaxing moments more enjoyable. This is a new product that combines CBN, CBG and THCV distillates with selected flavours of natural terpenes. CBG has a calming effect and can improve mood, CBN has a sedative effect and can improve sleep. The THC content of these cartridges is 0%. THCV cartridges contain 20% THCV, 60% CBG and 20% CBN and you can choose between Blue Dream, Green Crack, Sour Diesel or Super Lemon Haze terpenes.

You can already find THCV edibles, tinctures and gel capsules abroad, so it's only a matter of time before they appear here too.

Finally

Cannabis is a remarkable plant that continues to surprise us. It contains many compounds, the best known being cannabinoids and terpenes. The cannabinoid THCV was discovered as early as 1973 and its popularity, especially in recent years, has been increasing. Perhaps the biggest stir is caused by studies suggesting that THCV could be effective for weight loss and problems associated with obesity and diabetes.

For your travels through the exotic, always choose only reliable and verified guides who offer quality products. Here you can get safe and legal THCV cartridges with terpenes from popular varieties. Start with a low dose. One final tip: Don't try to saddle up a tiger if you've only ever ridden a horse.
